I completed my PGCE in Primary Education at Roehampton University in 2006, after graduating from the University of Kent with a 2:1 BA Honours degree in Drama and Comparative Literary Studies. I spent the first six years of my teaching career working in Lambeth as a class teacher across all Key Stages. I also held the role of literacy coordinator through which I received specialist training in the teaching of phonics, reading and writing. I was responsible for the development, assessment and monitoring of literacy and language throughout the school.
I began tutoring in 2009, initially supporting Year 6 children with Key Stage 2 SATS. Since then I have worked with a wide range of children between the ages of 4 and 11. I find this work immensely satisfying; in particular having the time to give each child tailored and specific support in their learning. Working on a one-to-one or small group basis enables me to really get to know each child’s learning style.
As well as being a Mummy to two lovely daughters, I currently work part-time at a school in Merton.
